Nehemiah picks up in a similar place to Ezra, and even overlaps. Where Ezra seems to be the character given responsibility for the religious restoration, Nehemiah arrives with the task of rebuilding the walls of the city. Together with Ezra, Nehemiah also oversees the removal or condemnation of non-Israelites and those who break Jewish law.
